Jack Lloyd is our youngest son, aged 25 and an English Teacher but is also a passionate photographer and content creator (like his older brothers!)

The reason I mention Jack is that he is the one that took this image from Tai Mo Shan, Hong Kong’s tallest Peak, there are quite a few magnificent views from up there if you are willing to invest time to get there and get back to civilisation, it is NOT an easy place to get to.

Tai Mo Shan is 957 meters above sea level or 3,140 feet, not exactly Mount Everest but we will take it!

I first visited Tai Mo Shan in early 1972 when I was a kid and to be honest I have never been back there since and as a Private Tour Guide it is not a place I would ever take guests because quite simply I do not do hiking tours and the time it takes to visit makes it impractical to fit into a private tour itinerary. I do however have friends who would be more than happy to take you to the top of this mountain.

According to our Jack he and some friends went up there by car and then a short hike to the summit, he naturally made it sound easy but as far as I remember it was pretty steep!

The best article I have found about trekking up to Tai Mo Shan Peak is from Sassy, a Hong Kong Lifestyle Magazine, there are apparently 5 options from easy to very hard. This article is quite detailed, i know a lot of people who just take a taxi to the Visitor Centre and then walk a relatively short walk to the summit.

So there you go, if you have the time and are reasonably fit then it is worth doing as the views really are something, by comparison Victoria Peak is only 552m or 1,811 feet tall but you get the best panoramic city view in the world from there, the views from Tai Mo Shan are spectacular but you will not get the image you see below.
